Welcome to Marsh Creek my friend! If you have found your way to the banks of this quiet little shore, then you must be a seeker of something more. In the midst of your busy life, you may feel a sense of emptiness and longing. Despite engaging in all the things the world says will bring you happiness and fulfillment, you are still restless. How can we find peace and fulfill the purpose for which God created us?
My desire to find peace reached a tipping point a few years ago. At that time, my family and I were living in a fast-paced urban environment. We were constantly innudated with the sound of traffic, construction, and sirens. Breathing the smell of exhaust and dust, I felt like I was choking. I knew I had to escape this soul crushing environment, so I began searching. Searching for a place where my mind, body and soul could be at rest.
I found it in the Low Country of southeastern Georgia. The first week here, I stood on the banks of one of the marsh creeks and was overwhelmed with a feeling of peace and gratitude. This place was good for my soul.
The coastal marshes are indeed peaceful, but they are anything but still. The waters rise and fall with the ocean tides, ever changing the landscape before you. This ebb and flow, while gentle and slow, has an extraordinary effect on its surroundings. It is a quiet rhythm that produces and nurtures an abundance of life.
I wondered if I applied this quiet rhythm to my own life, could I find peace? I believe we were also created to ebb and flow, through our days, our years, and the seasons of our lives. A gentle, purposeful rhythm nurtures a more abundant life.
I hope you will join me on this journey of discovery. Together, we can learn to live a more gentle lifestyle of meaningful work, restorative rest, and nurturing relationships.
